Nemea takes its Origin Designation to another level with some of the highest-altitude vineyards carefully selected and cultivated to yield low quantities. From the region of Asprokampos, where conventional wisdom might suggest predominantly rosé wines, emerges a wine that defies convention. Fermented and aged in stainless steel tanks, it undergoes complete malolactic fermentation in barrels and matures in new French oak barriques for 12 months followed by an additional 6 months in the bottle. It boasts a radiant, clear, deep ruby color. On the nose, it exudes depth, power, and density, with aromatic notes focused on red fruits such as sour cherries, blackberries, and red cherries, accompanied by spicy characters, hints of dried herbs, and a touch of minerality. On the palate, it offers a medium to full body, with intriguing acidity and very fine tannins, while flavors of red fruits, earth, and metal dominate, along with notes of smoke and spices. The finish is long, complex, and continuously evolving. Best served at 18°C, it pairs well with grilled meats as well as rich dishes with spicy and sweet notes. It can age gracefully for 5-8 years from the harvest.
